Cold Mounting Compound
Thermosetting polymer powder specially designed for metallographic sample hot mounting, with good fluidity, fast curing, high hardness and low shrinkage. It firmly encapsulates various metal, alloy and non-metal samples, providing stable support for subsequent grinding and polishing, ensuring sample edge integrity and smooth mounting surface.
Hot Mounting Resin is a specialized thermosetting polymer consumable for metallographic sample hot mounting process, serving as a core material to fix and protect samples before grinding and polishing. Made of high-quality raw materials with precise formulation, this resin powder features excellent thermal stability, uniform particle size and good fluidity under high temperature and pressure, enabling full and even encapsulation of samples without gaps or bubbles.
After high-temperature and high-pressure curing in a standard hot mounting press, the resin forms a solid, high-hardness mounting block with extremely low shrinkage rate, effectively preventing sample loosening, edge chipping, cracking and deformation during subsequent grinding and polishing operations. It is widely suitable for encapsulating various regular and small-sized metal samples, alloy parts, non-metal materials and thin sheets, providing stable and flat clamping support for automatic or manual grinding and polishing, ensuring the integrity of sample microstructure and improving the accuracy of metallographic observation. This resin is fully compatible with all standard desktop hot mounting presses, matching conventional mounting molds and supporting efficient batch sample mounting.
2. Core Advantages
-
Ultra-Low Shrinkage & High Dimensional Stability: Optimized thermosetting formula minimizes curing shrinkage, ensuring tight fit between resin and sample, no gaps or loosening after cooling, maintaining high dimensional stability and avoiding mounting block deformation.
-
High Hardness & Crack Resistance: Cured resin block features high hardness and good toughness, wear-resistant and pressure-resistant, no cracks or breakage during high-pressure grinding and polishing, providing long-lasting stable support for samples and protecting fragile sample edges effectively.
-
Fast Curing & High Efficiency: Fast curing at standard hot mounting temperature and pressure, short holding time, rapid cooling and molding, shortening sample preparation cycle and suitable for batch mounting of multiple samples in laboratories to improve work efficiency.
-
Excellent Fluidity & Bubble-Free Molding: Fine uniform powder with good fluidity under heating and pressure, able to flow into tiny gaps of irregular samples, full encapsulation without bubbles or voids, ensuring a smooth and flat mounting surface without defects.
-
Easy Demolding & Wide Compatibility: Works perfectly with metallographic mold release agent for effortless demolding, no sticking to molds or sample surface; compatible with all standard hot mounting presses and various metal/plastic mounting molds.
-
Strong Sample Compatibility: Suitable for hot mounting of various ferrous metals, non-ferrous metals, hard alloys, non-metal materials and small thin samples, no chemical corrosion to sample surfaces, no impact on sample microstructure and composition.
-
Easy Storage & Long Shelf Life: Dry powder form, sealed storage without deterioration, no agglomeration under normal laboratory conditions, long shelf life, low moisture absorption and convenient for daily laboratory standby use.
